Text #2853The Fourth Book of the Chronicle of Fredegar .
[Fred. Chron. 8. Translated by John Michael Wallace-Hadrill. Oxford University Press. 1960 p. 7]
In this year Reccared, king of the Goths, embraced the love of God, and was first baptized in private. Then he summoned before him at Toledo all Goths who were still Arians, and all Arian books were ordered to be surrendered to him. These books were collected together in one house and were burnt at his command. He compelled all the Goths to be baptized into the Christian faith.
