The Shih chi (-90) is the only account of this object. It reports that a “bright star” was seen in the west sometime during -213. Interestingly, the commentary of the Shih chi specifically referred to this object as a “broom star”.

33rd year of the First Emperor of Qin of the Warring States period; a bright star emerged in the west. [Shiji jijie] (commentary) quoting Xu Guang says, “Huangfu Mi (AD 214-AD 282) says, ‘a broom star appeared.’”
